FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  Q.  WHEN IS THE YARD SALE?
A.  It is the 1st weekend of August.

Q.  I'VE NEVER HAD A YARD SALE BEFORE.  WHAT DO I DO?
A.  Clean out the closets.  Take everything outside and wait for people to stop.  A sign helps.

  Q.  HOW DO I BECOME A SELLER ON THE ROUTE?
A.  If you live on Hwy 27 all you have to do is set up in your yard.  Anyone can participate.
If you know someone who lives on the route, ask to setup in their yard.
Although we have no rules about vending, we do not encourage "professional" vendors to participate.
This is a chance for residents to clean out their closets and make room for new stuff.
We are not a Festival or Fair.  Profits required by professional vendors may not happen.
If you sell at Carnivals, Festivals, and Fairs, you should look at it as a chance to be the customer and
purchase items at extraordinary prices to resale at their regular locations.

Q.  WHERE CAN I RENT A SPACE?
A.  Check www.Hwy27YardSale.com for information on setup locations near you.
You can also check posts on our Facebook page.

Q.  HOW DO I RENT SPACE TO OTHERS?
A.  If you have spaces for rent in your yard or parking lot use our Contact form to tell us about it.
We'll list you for free!
Advertise your spaces in the local paper or on the internet.

Q.  WHAT DOES IT COST?
A.  There is no fee to participate.
Each property owner may charge a fee for rental spaces.
There is no admission fee.  We're talking cheap entertainment!
There are advertising opportunities for local business.

Q.  IF THERE IS NO FEE, HOW WILL YOU SUPPORT ADVERTISING THE SALE?
A.  Volunteers do the work.  Advertisers foot the bill.  We want this to be fun, not costly.
We encourage volunteers to procure free advertising in their local area.
If you'd like to advertise on our website, it's free.
You can also post on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/hwy27yardsale.
Interested in advertising?  Go to our contact page and ask about local rates.
Opportunities include advertising at Welcome Centers in Georgia, listings on several websites,
facebook exposure, ad space on our brochures and mailings.
It's well worth the price to advertise.  Don't miss out!

Q.  WHAT CAN I SELL?
A.  Anything!  You'll be surprised what people will buy.
If you're planning to sell food, you should check with your local health department.  Permits may be required.
If you're planning to sell mature items (weapons, paraphernalia, sex toys), remember, there are children present.
Be considerate and keep these items out of reach or sight.

Q.  WHERE ARE THE YARD SALES LOCATED?
A.  You'll find clusters along 27 everywhere.  Check each states website to verify locations.

Q.  WHO ORGANIZES THESE EVENTS?
A.  Each community coordinates the activities for their area.
Some communities are more involved in the process than others.
If you're interested in organizing your area, please let us know.
We desperately need organizers throughout Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.
We have a Committee that meet semi-annually to plan the event.  Volunteers are invited to attend.
Information about upcoming meetings are posted on our website and facebook.

Q.  WHAT TIME DOES IT START?
A.  Each seller must decide their start time.  I would advise being set up and ready no later than 8 a.m. Many start at 6 a.m.
Plan on staying until late in the evening.  Business will slow between 3 and 5, but then it picks back up.
For buyers, "the early bird gets the worm!"
Yard Sale rule of thumb:  Start when the fog lifts.  Stop when the yard is empty.

Q. WHAT ABOUT PARKING?
A.  Seller parking is usually provided with the space you rent.
Customer parking may be difficult in some places...ample in others.
Be cautious of drivers making quick stops and turns.  There may be pedestrians on the roadway.
Be patient and courteous and everyone will have fun.

Q.  HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO TRAVEL THE YARD SALE ROUTE?
A.  That depends on where you start and how far you plan to go.
It's also a good idea to check the website for participation as some areas are undeveloped.
There are plenty of hotels, motels, cabins and campsites along the way.
If you'd like to advertise your motel, etc. on our website, go to www.Hwy27YardSale.com and use our contact page.
It's FREE!

Q.  ARE THERE PLACES TO EAT?
A.  This is a great opportunity to try new things.
When you're ready to eat, ask the locals where they go.  They know the best places to eat in their communities.
If you'd like to have your restaurant listed on our website, go to www.Hwy27YardSale.com and use our contact page to send us information.
It's free!

 Q.  WILL I FIND BARGAINS?
A.  Yes!  and No.  Some people think their junk is worth a lot.  It may be to them but not to you.
Some people think their stuff is worthless.  You may think it's priceless.
If you feel an item is too high at one place, take a chance and pass it up.  You'll probably find another one down the road.

Q.  HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
A.  We need help.
Contact me if you own a business and would like to advertise on the official website of the Hwy 27 Yard Sale.
Contact me if you'd like to have our brochures at your location to hand out.
Contact me if you'd like to volunteer to organize your local area.
Email Hwy27YardSale@gmail.com for more information on how you can get involved.
